Gallatin County Firefighter I Program

 

The Gallatin County Fire Council would like to welcome all new applicants to the coaching process. The Gallatin County Fire Council is made up of members from each of the fire departments that serve the incorporated communities in Gallatin County Montana. The council meets regularly and the fire departments work together to provide fire protection to Gallatin residents. The fire services of Gallatin County Montana pledge their man power, equipment and experts to help those in need. The Fire Districts and Fire Departments through out Gallatin County are dedicated to providing outstanding fire services to the residents of Montana and Gallatin County.  Member fire departments located in Gallatin County constantly train and equip themselves to provide modern rescue and fire suppression techniques. The Gallatin County Fire Council Firefighter One Coaching Program offers a coaching program to assist members in achieving national NFPA 1001 certification. The course provides a basic level of understanding and awareness of firefighting knowledge and practical skills. Training is delivered by local professional firefighters who bring a wealth of experience and expertise into the classroom.  

 

 

 

The Application Process

 

Minimum Requirements For Firefighter I Applicants:

·         Applicant will have a minimum of one year of experience in a volunteer fire department.

·         Applicant will be over the age of 18 years.

·         Applicant will be in good physical condition and meet the minimum physical requirements according to NFPA 1582.

Gallatin County Emergency Management - Fire Updates

Burn Permits are issued by The Gallatin County Burn Permit service – found at www.BurnPermits.mt.gov. The online service will allow citizens to purchase a burn permit using a debit/credit card or an electronic check. Citizens will also be able to activate their permit online or by calling the county’s new automated phone system at 1-877-306-BURN (2876).

Open Burning is allowed only WITH A PERMIT between March 1st and November 30th. Permit holders are still required to follow SPECIFIC GUIDELINES when burning. This includes notifying when the burn will occur and taking necessary safety measures to contain the burn. Your burn must be attended.

The following materials are PROHIBITED: Food wastes, Animal droppings, Treated lumber, Styrofoam, Plastics, Dead animals or animal parts, Pathogenic wastes, Hazardous materials, Materials resulting from salvage operations, Automobile or aircraft bodies and interiors, Insulated wire, Oil and petroleum products, Standing or demolished structure, Wastes generating noxious odors, Poultry litter, Tires, Rubber material, Tar paper, Chemicals, Asphalt Shingles, Asbestos or asbestos-containing material.
